Author Topic: Worries of a key revoke  (Read 2358 times)

I always thought you were a nice guy...
I am not.
Oh, well. I'll just try to tell him to uninstall it again. Just about the only thing I can do at this point...
If he's smart, that won't do anything.
Besides, asking him simply to not use it, would require less effort on his part.
Which might make it a bit more feisable for you.

Still, you shared your key, and you don't seem to realize that.
Not saying you'll get revoked, but the OP seems to be targeted at victimizing you, like Bisjac said.

Sharing your key is not wise unless you trust the person.
Trust no one.

Even so, I would have kicked your friend in the loving nutsack and droped his like a sack of potatoes.

Well if you ever get an opportunity to use his laptop you can just go in and delete the key.dat off his computer. You could also try and trick him into deleting it, by telling him it's a virus or something. Also, for next time, realize that people on your local network can just connect to a LAN server with the demo version (this is an intentional feature). I've used it to run multiplayer servers when I had friends over with just one copy of the game.

There's also a number of ways to forget up the key file so they have to re-enter it. Having your friend install hamachi and setting it to their primary network adapter might work.

Of course, if you actually gave them a copy of the key then there's nothing you can do since they can just keep re-entering it.
I didn't give him an actual copy of the key. I know my key by memory, so I just entered it onto his computer. I'll find a way to get rid of it...

I am not.If he's smart, that won't do anything.
If he was smart, he would have removed the key in the first place. And yes, I realize I shared my key.

Alright. I'll probably be safe, then. My friend and I are in walking distance of eachother's houses.

Where does Badspot specifically state that key sharing is not allowed? All the FAQ on the main site says is that it's a bad idea.

Your key most likely will not get revoked. However, if your friend tries to play at his house at the same time you play at your house, you will get authentication errors.

If you entered it without telling him, then you should have no problem somehow getting it off.

Next time you go to his house, when you have a chance you can just delete key.dat.

Or you can promise him you'll get him another key if he deletes the key file then removes it from his recycle bin. :)

You should walk to his house and keep punching him in the face until he uninstalls Blockland

IP ≠ Key

Unless your IP actually changed and only the location did then irrelevant.

Basically I was on vacation in Egypt, and sometimes I used a vpn tunnel home. So to Badspot that would probably look like key sharing.

I am mlockha and i agree with this statement.

Do what Wedge told you and if you gave him the key on a piece of paper, find it, and burn it.  Then scatter the ashes all about his front lawn.

If you cant do this and your friend is under 18, get his mother to settle it.  :cookieMonster:

I don't know if it'll help, but if you get the key via the Blockland Key Recovery, and type it into your game, I believe it'll disable the key that was logged into your "friend's" laptop.

Pretty sure that you are wrong.
