i meant in the way of strengthening their army, not necessarily shooting everything

Oh well, yea I guess but putting nations against each other doesn't cause tension between the U.S. and the nation but yea I guess you're right.

Well written post.

I still wouldn't want to visit China or learn Chinese, though.  Most of the information in the post is common sense, anyone with a 6th grade education would know that China is geographically separated almost and that almost all the population is poor and packed into the east coast.

I've never seriously heard anyone who knows what they're talking about say China is going to take us over, even economically. That's just ludicrous.

Bump for updated OP.

China won't start a Nuke War with us... only friends would believe that...

Whats worse then a Nuke War.... China stopping all shipping to USA.

It's not going to stop all shipping to the USA

Really, it's sad to remember the day when millions of people were killed in Japan because of kamikaze attacks of Pearl Harbor. Not to offend anyone, but the US was not a force to be reckoned with and Japan should have surrendered instead of being selfish and letting all those people die.
Japan was arrogant because they won like three-four other battles.

What Belogna said was true. They should've just stopped fighting after Midway.

What are we talking about?

I've lived in China for 4, no, 6 years of my life. First off, get your heads into gear. The real reason people say that China is going to present us our debt if we try to do anything is because they are afraid of being called down, not because it poses any actual threat. Sort of like being caught with your hand in the cookie jar and being caught by a person that you owe a favor to.

Also if you are implying wealth distribution in China, I don't think that would help. Keep in mind this is COMMUNIST China and most of the Wealthy are corrupt there and not willing to share. It's not that easy to just say, "we need to balance out the wealth." Communist leaders (The only wealthy ones there) are not for the welfare of the country, so wealth distribution is not on their to do list. They are very clever too, when it really begins to rot economically they support a small amount of capitalism (like a breath of fresh air) and then close off again to keep from teetering over. China is like a piece of old bamboo, they can be crumbled easily and pose no threat because we have any debt to them. What most people worry about is their large population and military (which was stated in the OP I believe.) This quickly overlooks what is really going on internally. IT will be an extremely long time before China can catch up economically. However, until we stop relying on China for resources, then they have the advantage of cutting off trade.

China can't call in the debt, the United States accounts for a quarter of the world's wealth I thought I explained this in the OP but it may have slipped my mind.

If they did call in the debt, they can't take our country that would never happen. They can't cut off trade either because their economy would take a hit and even the slightest economic downturn in China will result in massive civil unrest.

Also, I'm not saying that China should redistribute the wealth. Otherwise I think we're both saying the same thing in different terms.

They can't cut off trade either because their economy would take a hit.
Only actual thing that I disagree with. This statement is true, but I'm thinking in a different situation. Though it is highly unlikely we will ever get into a angry war with China, cutting off trade will be one of the things they do if it does happen. I mean, who trades with the enemy you are trying to starve? I'm thinking more in a war-time standard when it comes to Chinas economics. Thank you for responding intelligently to my post at least.

Also in regards to China calling in the debt, of course they could never take the country because of it. I don't remember implying any of that. What I'm saying is that people don't want to face the embarrassment of being called down for it, not because of the thought of being taken over whick, like I said and you said, will never happen..

This is an interesting point you bring up. But responding to the second paragraph I wasn't implying that you were implying that they would take the country.

Now, as for the first paragraph. I don't think that thinking of China at war with the U.S. is the best way to brown townyse this. China is still an emergent economy and still relies on the United States. But yes, if by some act of stupidity we do go to war they would cut off trade. But that is highly unlikely.

As for a credibility with our debt, if they did call in the debt and we couldn't repay it, (which if we really had to we could) our rating would fall from a AAA rating. And again that would be counterproductive for China because the world markets would take a hit. It may not be as bad for China as to cutting off trade but it would still be pretty bad.

Chinese people disgust me. Always spitting everywhere, I mean who does that? There's loving spit everywherrrrrrre
