Author Topic: Map limit Q's  (Read 7089 times)

Just a few more Q's....
Max map size?
I see the map as being 2048x2048 units....

Any way around the repeating terrain thing? What about just having no terrain after the map ends?
I believe that last one may have already been answered, but I just want to double check.

I want to make a very large "world" type map, and knowing the limits (Q1) and if I can have on-going ocean after terrain ends would help quite a bit.

There has to be some hack that can kill repeating terrain, even if it means NO terrain after the map ends.

Maybe convert terrain to an object?

The world is not flat !

you mean like Gmod?  :cookieMonster:

WTF are you guys talking about?
@Terror ::angrily::
@Spartan300 Whats about Gmod? I am unfamiliar with it.

Wizzard, if you figured this out and made a map such as this, i would worship you as the Map-god.
[EDIT] it would be cool also if you went along the world forever, you start off where you started

I do not think its possible with out having to Change the Engine.

Darn. I guess I'll have to stick to boxing all you guys in :-P Gotta keep the island, an island.

Gmod has maps where, well , no terrain? you make a map, than there is a sky box, you go out of the skybox, it get's all weird and shiz.
(you can only go out of skybox if you use "unclip" basically like F8 for Blockland)

change the play area in something. i think that changes the map repeat.

wait, you want it as if your flying and you pass 3 islands and you end up were you spawned again? a round map?

I want as if you were to leave the island, all you see forever is ocean!

To do that you'd need to eliminate all map limits. That's impossible.

Ah. I was hoping maybe the engine might be able to *stop* drawing terrain after a certain point, and with the water going on forever (2048x2048) it would seem to be a never-ending ocean :-D

You can always use invisible walls or triggers that kill you.

But you can't just stop the terrain.

I had that problem so what I did was make the Terrain the Ocean Floor then add islands with .dif or .dts with collisions.
