Nope, he stated that his computer met his minimum requirements in everything, but I'm unsure if his graphics card does.

He should check if his computer can by going to http://www.canirunit.com/

wtf, this is an install error. doesn't matter if he can run it or not. even if he had an incompatible OS the installer either wouldn't run or would tell him his OS wasn't compatible.

I'm not really sure what it is, but since it says I/O it must be something with the DVD drive/DVD.

It must be the graphics card, I've started getting random blue lines on my desktop. The last time that happened it was a sign that my graphics card was about to die.

By the looks of it, it's probably something with your CD tray.

Which is why I use steam.

I think it's a combination of the CD tray and the graphics card.

Fallout 3 is a great game.
Fallout: New Vegas is not.
Dont know which one you're referring to :(
I liked new vegas more than 3. :o It was so much more open ended and felt more like an rpg.

I think it's a combination of the CD tray and the graphics card.

the installer doesn't check your graphics card like that. it might see that your particular card is below recommended and warn you, but it will still install. and itll give an error thats understandable to the average person, not some line of code. its your DVD tray/possibly the DVD itself.

atleast thats what i think :P

Can't you just use the game's key and unlock it on steam?

No, otherwise I would've done it myself. That only works for some games.

that's odd considering fallout 3 is on steam

There are only like 100 games that steam allows you to redeem free of charge.
I had a list but idk where it went.

You cant really blame steam, i mean, they're not making any moneyz off of it.

Canyourunit is not that good. It will tell you you cant run the game just because it doesn't have your GPU/CPU in it's databanks.

Anyway yeah don't pirate games, lo!l

I'm not buying another Fallout 3 either, especially when I already beat the game.

If you're using a disc, try ripping the ISO and installing it with daemon tools.

I/O is a windows error about it not being able to read data. So its probably your disk drive.
