Author Topic: A desktop background I made as a sort of "Fan art" for Blockland.  (Read 4398 times)

Used Gimp 2.0 and Blender.

Edit: I changed "The game where you build stuff" to "That game where you build stuff" Thanks to RedGajin for spotting that flaw.

EDIT: Made it 1920x1200.

Very good job! *Clap clap clap*  :cookieMonster:

May I ask what effects you used in GIMP?
Oh my, there goes my mouth blabbering again!

I think I know what you did

You used trellis paint for the background and made it slightly transparent, used opposite gradient, then duplicated the words and the guy onto another layer, made it black, then used gaussian blur

or something like that i don't have gimp :e

Blender for the model? if you have Gmod you can get the Blockland minifig mod and just use that too, but nice work, its a very smooth blend.

As always, I must find the flaws.

I believe its "That game where you build stuff."

-Effects used: Gaussian Blur and Layer overlays.

How I made the Blockland Logo: I Typed out Blockland in a font called "Impact" Then I basically Alpha to selected it then Made a layer underneath, and grew the selection by 5 then Filled it with white. Same with "The game where you build stuff"

How I made the Drop shadows: I duplicated the layer and made them completely black then used Gaussian blur.

How I made the background: I Took a light blue color and black then Made it into a Radial Gradient. Then made a new layer and filled it with a Custom pattern which I then overlaid and decreased the Opacity of. Here is where you can find the pattern:

For the Blockland figure I used DarkStar's Minifig v4 Rig and posed it + Colored it
You can find the Rig Here: http://www.mediafire.com/?iez9432vde21ekk

And finally for the faint background of the buildings I basically found a High Res image of Badspot's Block Party Server and Overlaid it on top of the Pattern and gradient.

Your welcome, I might make a Blockland Wallpaper pack if people like it.

Oh and I apologize for the Mis-phrasing. As found by RedGajin.

Thanks a lot. Do you mind if I try to make a poster of my own with the way you do it?
