So basically, to apply for writing it's as simple as that, say you want to be a writer. Easy. Now, your level of creativity is still going to be judged, so this is how the process will go:
First, think of an interesting idea or plot and some funny gags to go along with the characters. Come up with a general two to five sentence summary of what you'd like to see happen in the episode and include some jokes you think would fit. Pitch those ideas to myself or Dark through a PM, or what have you, and we'll tell you if we like it or not. If it gets the thumbs up from both of us, you're free to flesh it out into a full fledged script and send it back.
Now, with the script in hand, Dark and I will read it and possibly talk to you about it, things we'd like to change or add or subtract. When you and Dark and I have finally come to a conclusion on the solidity of the script in question, it'll be left to me and the voice team/Dark and the animation team to bring your words to the screen.
We've decided on taking the traditional "cartoon" route with the production. So think no more than about 11 minutes in length. It can be longer or it can be shorter (i.e. two part episodes or shorts) but the 11 minute mark is pretty much where it should be. Also, to think in terms of how long your script is, the estimation they make in Hollywood is: a page of dialog is roughly 1 minute of screen time, and a page of action is up to determination of the director. So if you want to write a whole page of action and say that it should fill a whole minute, then make sure to include that, otherwise write roughly 9 pages of dialog spliced with 3 page of action (or really any combination of the two) to get a feel for your episode being in the correct length.
Other than all of that, you're basically free to do whatever you want. Think like you're writing a cartoon, and then write a cartoon.
