Doesn't help that his characters have about as many polygons as a piece of paper from Oblivion.

It's honestly not that appealing. Sure they're nice, but they're no Mona Lisa of game's art styles.

They aren't turning the games into real life.
They are just moving from the ugly limited polygons and 2d model tricks to using atom clouds which could mean a lot more possibilities beyond just appearance. Which doesn't always have to be recreating real life, it could be for much better things like action games.

The Uncharted series is realistic. They try to make the games look as realistic as possible.
