Many of you guys know the correct usage of an apostrophe, which is great, I've seen many people who don't know how to use one.
This thread will hopefully help people that do not know how to use an apostrophe. (Clone ###, Hectic 2)
An apostrophe is a punctuation mark that represents characters (Letters, numbers) being omitted from text, if you mix two words you will probably need an apostrophe unless it's like Spoon and fork = Spork.
Example
INCORRECT: Twas, T'was, Tw'as, Twa's, ect
CORRECT 'Twas
I see this all the time, really it's a rookie mistake, everyone seems to fall victim to this one. You're taking out the I in the phrase "It was" and putting an apostrophe, why you'd ever need to say 'Twas is beyond me, but that's not the point.
It can be used in numbers too: 1849
INCORRECT: 49, 849
CORRECT: '49, '849
I saw this Hectic 2 guy say "Sides'"
INCORRECT: Sides, Sides' Side's
CORRECT: 'Sides
Probably meaning Besides, it should have looked like this "'Sides" if he wants to say 'sides for some stupid faux-southern accent when he's claiming to live in New York.
Now that you know your apostrophe get the forget out of here. I know this little guide will help like 5 of you.
