Author Topic: My modem is going to die  (Read 781 times)

It's pretty much 99% dead. I get little 1 seconds of working internet every few minutes.

If anyone has any ideas of how to fix it, the error that my router isn't getting the dns addresses and is being assigned an invalid IP address.

Otherwise, ask me important questions before my connection to this neighbor's wifi drops.

Reset to factory defaults.

I don't think that will fix anything. I haven't tweaked settings in months and my modem has been routinely dropping my connection for an hour almost twice a day.

Silly sandwiches.
Modem's can't die, only asplode.

Does it happen on more than one computer?
You may have to go into Network and Sharing Center, view status of your main connection, Properties, single click Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) and select Properties, then make sure it's assigned properly. If you're having trouble and it's set to manually find the IP addresses, try obtain them automatically, and vice versa.

THE INTERNET GEEK IS HERE!

1. Whats your modem provider?

2. Call your manufacturer for info.

3. I was promised cookies.

Does it work if you plug directly into it? It could just be interference.

I'm on a mac, but I'm using airport utility to manage my network.

It doesn't work on any of the computers I try to connect to the network on.

The problem is that the airport router isn't receiving data from the Ethernet cable coming out of my modem. So yeah, it's probably dead.
