I tried disabling firewall and it's still broken.

CS:S and killing floor work on every single other computer.

"Refreshing server list..." and it goes on and on forever.

I tried turning off windows firewall and that didn't even work.

does anyone have any ideas?

I've tried:
-Port forwarding
-disabling the firewall
-restarting steam
-reinstalling the game
-reinstalling steam
-restarting my computer

nothing loving works. what do I do?

Make a proper exception in Windows Firewall. Even if WF is off, it will still somewhat block whatevers not on it's exception list. It's dumb.

Check your hosts file.

C:\Windows\sysWOW64\drivers\etc\hosts (64 bit)
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (32 bit)

Copy and paste what's in it and post.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#   127.0.0.1       localhost
#   ::1             localhost

I don't use a 32 bit OS but the drivers folder in sysWOW64 doesn't even have an etc folder.

I just realized my windows is super out of date.

Maybe updating will fix this?
