I was thinking of getting Ubuntu on my VERY OLD emac to try and speed it up a little bit. I'm trying to get it working JUST via a usb drive, but I don't understand the command bit using the terminal to convert it. I think I've put in the right locations and all but it still doesn't work. Can someone help me please?

Ubuntu still has Gnome, you have to log out and log back in with Gnome selected. c:
And what should I use? Arch Linux or Ubuntu? I'm about to begin installing one of them.
