except the amounts they contain aren't enough to have any adverse effects

Mom find you drinking an energy drink, she responds with anger, meanwhile you didn't know the effects of an energy drink, but you decided to respond with a counter to your Mom's logic, hence why you are grounded.

You could've told her you didn't know the effects of an energy drink, I'm sure she would understand :I

I did, but still.

Well, I can see why your mom probably got upset.  She was probably afraid that you can possibly get addicted to it or she just doesn't want you drinking a new soda with a lot of sugar in it.

In that case, if you are addicted to this drink and have high doses of it.  For instance if you were to drink about a pack or two a day, you would have a high dose of caffeine.  When this happens your heart rate goes up to keep up with all the sugar.  This can lead to possible heart attack and death.  If you do have these high doses though, try to avoid any physical activity or yelling/screaming and what not.

That's probably what raced through her mind once she saw you with the can in your hand.

Yeah, i understand its because she cares, and for that i thank her, i didn't know the effects of it then, also, it wasn't really an addictive drink, its just a drink that if i can i might say "sure why not" or something, and not overdose.

I said if he were to get addicted to it, some people have an addiction for it.

Yes I do get this, it's not at a high rate.  No one I know is addicted to an energy drink.
