I won't deny that there are some losers that do all that, but I wouldn't say that's the average fan.
If you asked me what the average "brony" does I'd probably say

looking at pictures every day, watching episodes frequently, watching youtube poop versions every day, watching dub versions, talking about them daily

While it's still an obsession, I wouldn't exactly call it unhealthy. And those people you see role playing and collecting dolls and masturbating to ponies are the vocal minority. They're so easy to notice because they're so disgusting.
