Supply and demand really screws this over.

People buy what they need, and not everyone will buy things like pot holders and doorknobs. Ergo there will still be poor people and rich people because farmers will have high demand products and that doorknob maker will only make so many customers until everyone has doorknobs. The moral of the story is that doorknob making is a poor business plan.

My dad is a retired officer who gets about 75% of his paycheck because he has worked 30 years. I don't see a problem.

Wow you really are handicapped. Farming takes a good amount of land which is limited and would be disputed over with this large population, mining is limited, and linen goods are not high in demand.
