I am working on a project and i need to know how to have the particle the item gives off the color of the paint can. Any help would be appreciated.

That's what you meant? Items that shoot particles use the same as any other particle. It's late, I don't want to go refreshing my sleepy memory, someone else help.

no acutely i want the particle emitter of the item to be able to be changed by changing the color of the paint can similar to how you can change the color of the skis by changing the paint can color.

Impossible without making a new datablock for every color, and since there is a datablock limit and almost unlimited colors, this wouldn't work.

So what your saying is that i would have to write new parts of the script for every color i want to include?  If so would it be possible to make it work for the default color scheme.

Just to let you know, you can't make server-side changing of of datablocks (I tried, but it stays the same as when the client loaded it while starting up)
