Author Topic: Zero's Building a new Pc  (Read 1621 times)

My budget is 600 to 700 dollars.

My plan is to try and keep the old hardrive and stay with windows xp(its heavily modded)Only if necessary I will buy a new harddrive and windows 7.

Now I need to try and keep it 32 - bit so it can run my modded programing even though I dont think its quite possible...

I'm thinking a about getting a amd phenom, and looking for an ati gfxcard,I also need a good powersupply,a good motherboard and a good case.I can take care of other chipsets.Although I cant post links because I'm on a 3DS I hope you get the picture of what I'm thinking of.

Lol. Gonna be gaming?
Cause XP only supports up to DX9, which is gonna be extremely outdated soon. You'd get a really good computer for your budget, as well as W7 and a hard drive, and maybe you could dual-boot.

I'm able to post some thoughts if you want me to.

Yes, I HIGHLY recommend getting Windows 7 and dual booting. Perhaps you can get a cheap 1TB hard drive and install Windows 7 on that if that's what you plan on gaming with, if you do plan on gaming.

Just ditch XP. It's not really worth using it now that it's pretty outdated.

~$649 with rebates.
Must say, thats a nice build. Wish I couldve gone with the 955 instead of the 840 -_-

Like we said, if he really needs it he can dual boot.

This graphics card is amazing at overclocking.
Yeah I know.
I always spend a tiny bit more and get one with a great cooler and non reference PCB.

My version of Xp is modded with custom boot screens and themes but I guess
I can go with 7.

Also that build sounds great to me ethan.

I like the build, good thing I have an external hardrive(Its where I keep blockland, games, and steam)right now my pc needs two DDR 1 RAM that top out at 512 bytes exact, I cant take my pc any further but I atleast need to have it working.

Just use Ethans setup, forget DX9 - DX11 is the way to go.
