I'd rather have everyone have guns so no one tried to start stuff rather than 1 crazy criminal who got his illegally and would go on a killing spree because no one else had guns. Also, notice how the incidence of shootings in bars dropped after they were legally allowed rather than when they were illegal. Safety AND freedom in 1 move right there.
