Author Topic: Marijuana: Legalize it? (Why Marijuana is Illegal)  (Read 7873 times)

I would legalize it for just the privacy in your home, I don't really like anyone being high outside of their home.

The only reasons its illegal is because of one lie and racism. Mexicans crossed the border with the plant and introduced it to America, California made it illegal almost completely because of America's racism. Other western states followed, when Montana made it illegal, they had this to say

Quoted
"When Montana outlawed marijuana in 1927, the Butte Montana Standard reported a legislator’s comment: “When some beet field peon takes a few traces of this stuff… he thinks he has just been elected president of Mexico, so he starts out to execute all his political enemies.” In Texas, a senator said on the floor of the Senate: “All Mexicans are crazy, and this stuff [marijuana] is what makes them crazy.”"

In eastern states, it was gain, racism.

Quoted
"Again, racism was part of the charge against marijuana, as newspapers in 1934 editorialized: “Marihuana influences Broes to look at white people in the eye, step on white men’s shadows and look at a white woman twice.” "

Harry J. Anslinger tried to make it illegal about a federal level, he said this.

"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Broes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek loveual relations with Broes, entertainers, and any others.”

“…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”

“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.”

“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”

“Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing”

“You smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother.”

“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind"

“In the year 1090, there was founded in Persia the religious and military order of the Assassins, whose history is one of cruelty, barbarity, and murder, and for good reason: the members were confirmed users of hashish, or marihuana, and it is from the Arabs’ ‘hashashin’ that we have the English word ‘assassin.’”

There you have it, racism and a big lie from someone with a personal agenda against Marijuana.

You can believe whatever you want, this is just why I think it should be legal, since it was legal 7000 years or more, and its a cheap and beneficial material.

Discuss.

Marijuana is okay, but it's the effect of other, proven dangerous drugs that cause worry. I support the legalization of Marijuana as long as it's carefully government regulated.

so they get high, walk out the door and they're arrested

so they get high, walk out the door and get some cocaine because marijuana is boring after the second time

It would be nice if it was sold like other drugs, Chewing Tobacco and Cigarettes.

which shouldn't be sold in the first place either because it's really bad and really addicting

You're right. Smoking overall just forgets you up.

I know right?

Since tobacco drugs contain nicotine, they don't do anything helpful and are just addicting.

It may be because they can't tax people, since marijuana can be grown and doesn't need processed.

He's talking about tobacco, marijuana's chemical kills cancer cells.

At least I think you're saying weed forgets you up, lol

No it doesn't, cannabis kills cancer cells, its a painkiller, its not addicting. The only reason a lot of people don't think it should be legal is because of an old law that was a strategic move since no one knew what it was.

It doesn't forget you up a ton, tobacco forgets you up more. Nicotine causes cancer, cannabis doesn't cause it. Nicotine is addicting, cannabis is not.

Whatever to each his own, but you're just listening to the propaganda with no facts involved.

so what are the facts dear 14 year old boy

The main active chemical in marijuana is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). Short-term effects of marijuana use include problems with memory and learning, distorted perception, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, loss of coordination, increased heart rate, and anxiety...

...The use of marijuana can produce adverse physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral effects. It can impair short-term memory and judgment and distort perception. Because marijuana affects brain systems that are still maturing through young adulthood, its use by teens may have a negative effect on their development. Additionally, studies have shown an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and schizophrenia.

Contrary to popular belief, marijuana can be addictive. Marijuana addiction is also linked to a withdrawal syndrome similar to that of nicotine withdrawal, which can make it hard to quit. People trying to quit report irritability, sleeping difficulties, craving, and anxiety. They also show increased aggression on psychological tests.

Because we want that to happen to the general population. I got this from the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy.

I'd like to know the source of those facts above please.
