I got a 9500GT 1GB PNY

It sucks hard.

Worst part is that I payed 110 bucks for that piece of stuff at staples.

Thank god I know not to make decisions like that again.

If you're really confident that the card you had before was definitely a 8500GT, you downgraded. Sorry.

Really? but it seems to run alot better.

I thought the 1GB would be better than 512mb

feep, didnt you say your old one was integrated? which means its not an 8500gt. nvm im dumb

Depends what games you're running.
Like I said before, the VRAM isn't an accurate way of sorting out power.
You can get a card that's 25% as powerful as another card, both can have 1GB VRAM.
But if you're playing really textured games or games like GTA IV, the extra VRAM will help.

Would this card be better for playing Fallout New Vegas?

If you can play Fallout 3, then expect performance to be half of that in New Vegas.

I'm playing New Vegas on 1Gb RAM and I only lag if I use explosives in houses with plenty of items flying around.

Lagging isn't the only way to measure performance. I actually meant that FPS is worse in NV and FPS drops and increases occur more randomly.

You're making me regret buying new vegas for my stuffty graphics card. If only I had known performance would have been better in FO3...

Well, New Vegas is better in other ways though. Such as gameplay, multiple storylines, factions. So you shouldn't regret it that much.

I have 4GB RAM.

1GB VRAM.

I can't believe it.

Someone on the forums actually downgraded.

I'm taking pictures of this, this is loving gold lol.

Okay, listen up.

No matter how much VRAM you have it will always "leech" from physical RAM.  Except it's not really leeching it's sharing RAM with everything else.  My 768mb GTX460 shares about 3+ gigabytes of RAM with my system, and I have 6 gigabytes of RAM.  However when I pop open Windows 7 task manager my physical RAM usage still hovers low.

BTW, anything less than a medium-end card will perform like stuff for things like Crysis.  I can't understand the logic between paying $30 for a heavily outdated low-end card and expecting it to perform well in Crysis.
