Author Topic: Architecture Thread  (Read 1638 times)

i've always wanted a thread like this

share autoCAD models, designs, sketches, ideas, concepts, blueprints, criticism and stuff like that!

last project i did in drafting class

a lot of the furniture was from google 3d warehouse, but not all of it

100 square foot house

and some old stuff

i checked your website once and saw the ski lodge and museum. cool stuff.

these are really nice, cookie

Wow.

You ever thought of doing architectural modeling for, like animated movies or videogames? You got some talent, my friend.

I got in the architect high-school and I start on 12 September. Now I'm thinking I'll need to do stuff like this.

Kill me.

I'll let you make my mansion when I'm a billionaire.

I've had the opportunity to work with cad once which was a nice experience but i never accomplished anything near this kind of stuff.

one thing is that imo; some of the furniture in the first pics don't look like they fit because they are missing the black outlines i am guessing these are the google warehouse furniture and suggest just going with all your own unless you are in rush or something it just makes the result look more put together at the end when everything matches

but in the end its nothing major

I love the 100 sqft one. The first one is also really cool.

Doesn't Google have a program kind of like this? I should find something like it and mess around with it, I wanted to be an architect but I dunno...

Also holy loving ass AutoCAD costs four grand.

EDIT: I can't run Google's, nevermind... ugh.

yes, some of the furniture from google warehouse is smooth shaded, so it doesn't show the lines

i usually do my own furniture and props, but i was lazy for the first house, so i took some from the warehouse, but some of the furniture is my own

google sketchup
it's a free autocad program which i use. I personally prefer it over autoCAD itself because autoCAD is just 2D views, pretty much mainly for blue prints.

If you want autoCAD really badly, you can signup for a student license, which gets you it for free, i have one.

also thanks for the feedback, but share some of your own stuff!

This is the only stuff I have, back several pages on my imageshack account. There was a time when I was going to pursue architecture, and this is what I did while taking the class. It was basically just one big tutorial, but it's still content.

Not much work here on my part, I pretty much just followed steps, but it looks pretty:

This was more difficult, built from scratch this time:

That's really the only interesting things I have, what little else I kept are just scraps

I had a few things from my Tech Ed class but they were all deleted over Summer Break :c

I got a tutorial from the Environment Artist from 2K Games, modules are win. You make the base objects which construct an are or building and you just free form place them around creating an elaborate building with basic parts that are just copy/pasted everywhere.
