Author Topic: Oleg662 is going to upgrade his desktop, and he needs your help!  (Read 1820 times)

Here is the current desktop I have:

It has all stock parts, so I'm obviously going to need to upgrade it, as it is very old. I don't know a lot about computers, so it would be great if you guys could suggest what I should get so that I can upgrade this to play games such as Skyrim(when it comes out...). What I need to know is what parts I should upgrade, and if you can, suggest parts that I should buy(nothing overpriced please). I'm browsing newegg right now, and I'm wondering what parts are just right, I don't want some super-powerful computer that can support crysis graphics, and I don't want a processor that can support 2 just cause2 games running at the same time, I just want something that I can play decent games on, games like Skyrim or Fallout.

Specs?

First, you bought a dell.

I wasn't the one who bought it, and it was a really crappy computer, so all the parts basically need to be upgraded

Budget?
If we're around $800/£500, i will call in the Ethan

so all the parts basically need to be upgraded
When you upgrade most computers this happens anyway. For a new CPU, you will probably need a MoBo, meaning you might need new RAM. It just stacks.

A new mobo is a new PC.
If you need to upgrade get a new Mobo and burn a disk for ubuntu until you can get Windows 7

So you guys are saying that I should just buy a new computer?

You can probably keep the case and the hard drive.

so should I just upgrade all the parts except those? I've been told that building a computer with parts is a lot cheaper then buying a prebuilt one

That is true.

Buy a new one, you can't really update those computers as they are very outdated.

Build a computer, that's how i got my new one. Cost me ~ $1,200, totally worth it.
