MAS has recently started a secondary operation wing today, in response to the recent resurgence of the advanced insect mutations located throughout the globe. A spokeman says this new wing is primarily focused on regaining old facilities that were in progress before the Bug Wars, and then focus on taking the fight to the bugs.

These combat exercises will be happening over the coming weeks.

As it stands, Nova Aspect is a splinter branch of M.A.S. Industries (Otherwise known as Mechanical Attack Systems), charged with reacting to recent bug incursions and expanding MAS territory. MAS isn't the only one getting time in the sun, however. The Bugs are evolving, and showing new traits and skills, as well as previews of the species from later mods. As well as maybe a few random species and gamemodes.

Long and short, this is the semi-official MAS server, ran at least twice a week dependent what I'm doing during the day. I'm doing my best to create new, creative builds, as well as a way to help Army Unit bugtest and show off MAS/Bug Mod mods.

I figured it'd be best to make my own server post about this now, soas to not clog the MAS/Bug thread in Modification Discussions.

THE BUILDS

Containment Breach
One of the earlier hostings. It's not quite as polished, missing some of the MAS proper colorations, but it did get the basics of what people expected, as well as proof of good intentions :3

The gamemode is a basic Siege game. Nova Aspect has been sent to this old, abandoned base in progress, only to find the station has been infested by the Bugs. MAS now must hold the bug hive from escaping, before the Hive can get a taste of freedom.





Plans for this build:
*Revamping
*Adding more cover/rubbish
*Extending the map outside slightly

MAS Trenchdig
Surprisenly one of the most popular gamemodes. A CTF mode featuring the Bugs in a hive deep below a MAS mining installation. MAS is mining a certain nameless mineral the bugs can't resist. Bugs have useful biological research material in the form of thier radioactive eggs. The two forces meet up after some digging. Hilarity Ensues.

KF-BioticsLab
A TDM Map that failed somewhat, not on build, but on my editing folly. Hopefully next time, the bugs- while not having hands- may still be able to break the doors this time!

A remake of the Killing Floor Map, Biotics Lab. MAS spawn at the elevator access, whereas the bugs have access to the vent spawns as well as the hallway spawns, dependent on the size of the bug.

*Make the doors 'breakable' after several hits.

Terror runs amok in ACM City! The bug menance has appeared in the city! However, it's not just the bugs that are causing problem now!

The mysterious fires and destruction has instead been caused by gigantic reptilian creatures, called 'dragons'.  These creatures are powerful, but still mortal. And are quite vulnerable to guns because of thier huge size.

So now, a three-sided war is begining. Nova Aspect, the bugs, and the dragons!

=Squad Information=

The following information is for all MAS recruits and veterans. Listed here is information on all MAS-related armaments NOT CURRENTLY RELEASED, so hopefully when you first join the server, you don't accidentally kill yourself with it.

MAS Orb Launcher

As seen clearly in the first image of Containment Breach, the MAS Orb Launcher is one of two active MAS armaments on the server. (The second is the Bug Zapper, which is slated for nercigarettee. The MAS HRL is currently not used in main minigames, due to overpowered reasons).

The orb launcher's projectile has slight gravity, bounces on surfaces, and explodes after a while. It takes as of current 4 direct strikes to kill a standard playertype, however it should be noted that the small explosion radius at the projectile's death is still able to cause some slight damage to a person.

The Orb Launcher works best in tunnels, down corridors, and at moderate range anywhere where the walls are tight.

=Bug Information=

This is the big part of the server. Even the 'classic' Bug Mod 1 has gotten the overhaul, and with a new poison system, some bugs are even more threatening then before. Add in the newcomers on loan from Army Unit, and we've got quite the combined threat against the MAS Players

Bug Mod 1

The Bug

Small, weak, and relatively easy to squish if found out. That part, however, is the hard part. the Bug is so small, it's hard to detect, and even the cleverest of fighters may overlook it, only to recieve a nip at the ankles.

The Mite

Ninja of the Mod1 Bugs. Mite is fast, small, and tends to jump around to throw off player's aim. It's bite is weaker slightly then the Bug, but much faster.

The  Spider

First of the bugs to gain Poison. The Spider's bite will poison a target it bites, allthough afterwards if it attacks the same target it will do moderate damage. Poison on a wounded target can more then often lead to death.

The Worm

Slow and bulky, the Worm aboveground looks like just another target. Underground, however (via crouching) it becomes almost invisible (save for it's spines and that annoying name tag) and much quicker, able to catch up with players. Also, it's smack hurts.

The Scorpion

The most efficient 'battle bug' of Mod1. Armed with 2 seperate attacks- it's claws, which hit twice a strike, and it's tail stinger, which releases a powerful poison- it's only drawback is it's bulk and it's tendency to draw everyone's paniced fire.

Bug Mod 3

The Vein Spider

The Mite was the first ninja bug, but now we have the Vein Spider, who as of current is the best. Though like the Spider, it's attack poisons, it's not as strong. Instead, it has a secondary effect: it temporarily blinds you, flashing the screen white continuously until it wears off. It's like eye aids x,x;

The Caterpillar

Not quite as tough as the worm, around the same size as the rest of the 'big' bugs, and pretty rounded in general, the Caterpillar is more or less hanging around until it gets it's proper function. Until then, it acts as just a Worm Reskin, using a similar attack without needing to crouch to run.

Bug Mod 6

The Firefly

The mod's first bug to do 2 things: Fly, similar to the Air Dragon (See the Dragon Pack), and have a attack that causes Knockback to a player. The firefly is a good harrasser, taking the attention of others to allow your mates to get close, and also works as a weak guard, it's attack knocking foes back into your heavier friends who haven't caught up yet. Also, sitting lights up your butt.

As Kevin said, MAS armaments are kinda on a premium. Until we get more, MAS's armaments are under the 'Operative' Class, with other classes comprised of Frog's Weapon Pack armaments. The stronger/more complex a class is, the longer the timeout before you gain the weapons available again.

I played the MAS Trenchdig for a good deal of time yesterday.  It's really fun.  I can see myself as a black worm in one of the pictures c:

Gonna do a bit of building on MAS builds on a open server today (As in nowish). This  additionally gives peeps a chance to look at the add-ons outside of a minigame.
