Author Topic: Dest needs to go shopping for emergency lights  (Read 658 times)

So I'm going to become a volunteer firefighter soon in preparation for my career in the future. This means I get to deck out my car with emergency lighting. I plan on getting interior LED lightbars for both the front and back of my car. I would rather people be able to see my lights so they don't slam into me. So now I am asking all around. I have no idea whether any of you know anything about lightbars but it is worth a shot.

I have thought up some designs, these designs and amount of lights are subject to change based on pricing. Ignore the stuffty editing, it gets the point across just fine.

On the front I'm thinking of getting 2 dual strobe bars to attach to the windshield with a break in the mirror. I also want to get smaller versions for the grill of the car:

On the back I would like to get a 6 head lightbar to mount on the back. Except I do not know how much those go for so its questionable:

Any of you know any lightbars similar to this? Suggestions on a different setup? Let me know.

I would suggest putting lights on your hood like maybe 2 near your windshield not to bright though its illegal in some areas and then a C formation of lights on your hood and 4 on the back like in the photo and your set.

I don't know if I'd actually realize that there was a volunteer firefighter who needed to get past me if i saw a Chrysler Neon zooming down the road with flashing strobe lights, I'd probably start wondering what the heck the driver is thinking/doing and report you for dangerous driving distractions lol.

I was considering hood lights but I'm not sure if I would have to modify the hood.

I already zoom past people, at least now it will be legal.

What if he had one of those old ones the red light you put on roof like out of your window and it had the wire through the window to a little button.

You don't, its basically a stuck-on light connected to the inside of the car with a wire.

You can cut a hole through the top or make a hole through the frame in the side, doesn't matter much as long as the wire gets inside.

You have a HOT car man!

you need to make them red and yellow, i'm pretty sure blue or plain white strobe lights are illegal. also, you need to make sure that the lights don't pulse too fast, some people could get seizures.

Whelen is a fairly good brand, dunno if Federal Signal makes 'em anymore. I think they do. Just get something bright, maybe these for the front windsheild one. I might be making a fool of myself, but you can browse around on there.
