Author Topic: BL runing my cpu at 50%  (Read 3324 times)

When I run Blockland, and look at my performance in task manager. one of my cpu cores is maxed out (max=50% of total cpu) and stays constant. I suffer only a little bit in game with performance since it wasn't doing it. But I wouldn't think it would be too good on my processer. Has anyone had similar problems to this, I remember when I host a dedicated server I had the same problem but only if I left the server running for more than a day. Now its all the time. The only thing that I have done differently is install a cpl maps and some addons. wouldn't think it would affect it but I don't know.  HELP??

Is your cpu dual core? what is the speed?

Yes, it is a dual core, Pentium D 2.8Ghz. ------2Gb ram..
Also an edit to my above Post... I completley reinstalled BL with no addons or extra map downloads installed. Just the very plain jane BL. And I still get the same result with my one of my cores maxed out. cpu never drops below 50%, but will get higher. Must be something with my system itself or the dualcore working with BL.

I'd have Blockland on windowed with Task Manager behind it and it's always 100% CPU while it's on top, but NO LAG. That's just how the game works, I guess :o

how much ram do you have? also your cpu might only be using once core to run blockland. Also are you running vista?

srry for leaving that out. edited orig post also,,, 2Gig. Possibly this is normal? Just concerned and curious.

Hmmm 2 Gb, well then i suspect that your computer is only using 1 core to run blockland.

ok then, well doesn't sound bad then, cool, thank you very much for all your replies. really quick! :cookie:

Dual Core aren't 100% support by most games, so don't worry.

Blockland only uses one core.  It's a game, so it uses all available cpu power to go as fast as it can as long as the window is in the foreground.

Badspot clarified what I said, what an honor :D No one believes me in stuff like this :o

What if my my comp has 2 CPUs, each at 1.6GHz, which together equals to 3.2GHz, does blockland still only use 1?
If so, is that why my game isn't running like it should be?
and if so, than is there any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Well i checked and by deafault, blockland only uses one cpu. idk if you can set it to work with both

One core.  One Processor.  Blockland is single threaded.  I do not know how to explain this further.

There are some resources on the subject but there is no easy fix for multi-threading an application.

That's too complex for me, thanks anyway.
