Author Topic: Headset Microphone Crackling  (Read 1016 times)

I recently bought one of these http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/gamecom-377

The problem is that whenever I record my voice on my computer, I can clearly understand what I am saying, however there is a loud and annoying constant crackle. I know this isn't the first place to ask a question like this, but I went to their forums and there is no activity.

Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

It has distorted noises in the headphones part?
I'm not sure how to help you, I have a plantronics .audio 626 and now it makes distorted sounds and BSoDs my computer for some reason

Only one logical explanation:
You're picking up alien frequencies.

the problem is that it's a headset, and headsets forget up

now it just happens that I have the exact same headset, two actually, and microphone-wise they work as intended

don't buy stuff it breaks

It works perfectly fine on my laptop. It's not the headset. I just got it. There must be something wrong with my hardware or something.

Is there a "bssstt" noise in the recording also?

I have a tutorial on how to remove it with the program Audacity

1. Import your sound file.
2. Click on a small sample of the fuzz/crackling
3. Go to "effects" and go to "Noise Removal"
4. Click "Get Noise Profile" and press Ctrl + A, or Select your entire sound file.
5. Go back to "Noise Removal" and adjust the settings to your liking, you can use the preview,
6. When finished, hit "Okay" or whatever it says.

Is it one side or both?
From my experience (and I go through a lot of loving headphones), the crackling means the speaker is going to die soon.

drop the gain a tad?  upload a sample
