Author Topic: The redundancy of clan threads in the current manner people use them.  (Read 1609 times)

This has been a major chip on my shoulder for the last several months for several reasons I'm not listing. However, it's mainly based on my experiences with clans in the last few months.

Basically, what I'm trying to convey is that I'm having trouble comprehending the purpose of clan threads in the current manner that most people use them. In my head, I think of clans as opportunities for multiple skilled people to combine their ability and numbers to create something one person cannot. However finding a clan that actually accomplishes this seemingly easy task is difficult.

However, the way that I see clans create this massive facade of actually creating group content is by having the leader make every single thing that is released as a clan project. I'll give multiple examples right away:

This bothers me, because I can't comprehend effectively why people take the effort to create these complex clan threads and forum graphics just to release their own projects under a brand name.

What I'm asking you guys to discuss, is how clans actually utilize the group of people they incorporate into their organization to create content. This is more a matter of curiosity then criticism, so I ask only for your honest opinions whether you agree or disagree.

I think that I am either too stupid or too young to understand one word of what you just said.

Although I really don't have much of any experience with clans, I did attempt to start one (we didn't make a page for it on the forums though) and it's HQ was probably the most successful build I've ever worked on. And I did not work on it alone. My only other "successful" builds were small, and solo. Not very great IMO, and I lost one in a saving accident (saved another build over it.)
So I see why having little actual "clan" projects might be annoying. I think that if, like you said, clans worked together to actually make something, they could do well.

god these clans are just like ADOLF loving HIELTR

This is going to be REALLY good.

That's the point. Some really amazing blockland content could be generated if there was a clan with a leader who actually organized his members in an efficient and productive matter.

Every clan is useless.

I think right now clans are stupid. It seems like all of them just try to be a group of really good builders/events/ect. I think clans should focus more on a specific interest, theme or style.

Only one of the clans you linked actually had a description of the clan. It seems like people get too distracted with fancy layouts to care about things that actually matter like writing a clan the description of the clan or a clan goal of sorts.

Getting multiple skilled people over the internet to devote hours of time to each other, and making sure they're actually skilled enough is not that easy.

If mod makers team up it's usually under the table.  They don't make a big deal out of it.  It only seems the people who can't make add-ons make these huge topics and get add-on makers to just make stuff for them so they can take credit for it and say the clan made it, when it was only a few people.  The leaders try to make some big name for themselves by making these kinds of clans.  Truth is, nothing actually productive gets done in most clans, they just procrastinate small projects a lot.

Tom

there are still clanS?
Yes, but there worthless pieces of trash compared to USSR and MotE

i havnt seen 1 good example of a clan since the beginning of blockland.
they have all been pointless to the community. the game lacks a certain bit of content that support a need for clans.

I preferred clans in the old days.
Used to be something slightly mysterious I could look up to; almost like secret societies, in my head.
