Author Topic: You CANNOT hack Blockland  (Read 10081 times)

well sure it could be hacked i guess.

but for the sake of THIS argument. no. blockland cannot, has not, and will not be hacked.

blockland 'cant be hacked' until someone does. just like aimbot was 'impossible' until someone released it.

What do you mean hacked? What did he do?
All info that I remember being available is lost.
Truce has hacked it before, I forget exactly how. There was a huge conversation about it on the RTB forum before Ephi removed it. Other than that, you can not hack Blockland.

OP, change the poll so you don't sound like a conceited forgettard.

How did they hack you? Life is not a movie. Most hacking is people tricking you into giving them things.

Depends on what exactly is meant by 'hacking'

Most of the time when people claim they saw a hacker, it's something along the lines of "omg someone came to my server and got admin and banned everyone!" or "i banned someone and he kept coming back!" This sort of 'hacking' is not possible. Everytime someone claims something like this, it always turn out to be either an add-on with a backdoor exploit, an admin messing around, or simply a lie for attention.

Considering that there are people who can hack industry DRM
These cracked-DRM games still can not be played on multiplayer, and if they can its usually only on cracked servers. Bypassing the demo brick limit has been done many times.

there is probably a way to hack Blockland with reverse engineering and memory editing.
Maybe, but the number of people who have the knowledge/desire to do this is very small. Even if someone did it, very little could actually be done with it.

WTF DO YOU GUYS MEAN BY 'HACKING'

Hacking is completely possible, but I would think most programmers worth their stuff would do something worthwhile instead of screwing around with this particular game.

Only ways to 'hack' blockland:

1) Break into the database that stores keys. Good luck.
1 optional) They might be encrypted, decrypt them. GOOD LUCK LOL
2) Hack the host of the server's computer (GOOD LUCK LOL), and then do stuff to the server. But if you were to hack someone's computer in the first place, there's far more better things to do than screw around with their lego game server.
3) Bypass demo brick limit.

The first two have never been done. Any other history of 'hacking' wasn't hacking.

Truce's 'hacks' were simply backdoor exploits, not actual hacking. I bet it was all done in torquescript.

One of the reasons why I think Badspot does not give out source code and encrypted all default game files is because he didn't want people to find exploits in the code.

In truth, Blockland is very much hackable, with the correct resources. Fortunately, you cannot get a hold of the resources in any way, making hacking Blockland a very tedious task to do, if not impossible at the current state. Now, if a large group of hackers decided to hack Blockland, they would probably achieve it because there are multiple experienced hackers looking for key exploits in the hidden games files.

Yes, Aimbot is considered a "hack" but all the aimbots out there are very inefficient. Also, it is worth noting there is no .cs.dso converter to date, so if Badspot lost all of Blockland's open source code, then he would not be able to work on it.

1) How the hell do you know if there's any exploits in the code? The server handles everything. The only way you can exploit it is if the client can send functions to the server that call the eval function in certain ways from the input.
2) Aimbot is NOT considered a hack because it simply uses torquescript commands with the given resources.
3) Even if a .dso converter was released, Badspot changed the way Blockland's .dso files are compiled.

While there might be an undiscovered minor exploit or two (like that getmaplist which apparently crashed servers for a short period of time before it was fixed) most of the "hacks" are either scripting exploits (aimbot is not in any way a hack) from mods Badspot failed for that purpose anyway, or just complete bullstuff.

I don't know much about computers in the software area but I imagine the worst you could do is go through a port and "gain access," rather than hack, to that persons computer. I don't know if it even works that way, but since you literally make a hole through your firewall every time you port forward something then I guess it could.

Eh, I probably sound stupid. If it is possible, I assume it isn't easy, and as already stated, people would be hacking into something more worthwhile like RWJ's channel.

Even if that were true, they would only be able to hack through this port if they knew it was open, and if the server isn't running. (or else the client of their hacking tool will try to connect to the Blockland server, and thus, get rejected)

You can edit the SavedVariables text file in your client data folder :D Ima H4x0r.

Anyway,

you CAN you cheatengine or equivalent to change some numerical instances (health to 100 for example), but this only really works on slate on single player because there's too many other entries if on a map with other data or other players running around. Even on single there's so much data that by the time you filter it all to one instance it's just gone and changed.

In short, possible but very very very tedious.
