I would say, if you are completely sure that he shan't be using it, then yes.
But the problem is, if you and your friend both try to use the same key at the same time, it'll likely get flagged as key-sharing.
Since it's your friend, and it's basically lending a game, really, it's not too bad, but the key-sharing policy is to prevent multiple people using keys simlutaneously in large groups to avoid having to buy the game.
But, you do run the risk of the key being de-activated.
If this happens, then it is permanently banned from play the full game (I think this is true, it doesn't just remove multiplayer abilities).
And, if this happens, you would have to buy a new key.
Also of note, as I'm sure you're aware, in order to post in the non-OffTopic boards, you have to register a Blockland Authentication Key with your forum account.
Because of this, if your friend has registered an account on these forums, and linked their Auth key to it, then, you shan't be able to use that same Auth key to allow access for your account.
I might not because i see a tons of people complaining on drama (what ever that is) and every other topic.
The Drama board is where forum members can post topics to complain about or warn others about other players.
As you can expect, there are sometimes problems with certain members not being nice, but it's far from all of them.
Using the Drama board as an example of people complaining, isn't fair, because the Drama board has the sole purpose of being an outlet for people to complain to.
Most arguing you see around the rest of the website, tends to be either people having their ego's flare up and attack each other, or they're not arguing about Blockland itself.
The Off-Topic section is a good example of this.
Don't take it as representation of the entire Blockland community.
The people who frequent the Off-Topic boards often do so regularly, and as such, they have their own character on here.
You're not necesarilly going to meet every nasty person on the forums, in-game.
Anyway, even though your question is a bit silly to ask upon the Blockland Forums, I would say that the game is worth it.
For $20, you get a complete game, no need for extra payments and everything else is completely free.
And the community is helpful too.
The members who frequent the Help sections are a godsend for their ability to help you out with even the most basic of problems.
Don't feel afraid to ask for help.
Edit: Didn't see the part about your friends account being banned and all.
Probably not a good idea to use his account.
The $20 isn't a sharp price, so, it's not much to pay for a one-time thing.
And as I posted above, you can get as much help as you need just by asking.
