Author Topic: Trying to get more into scripting  (Read 671 times)

I've read a few tutorials and made one add-on, and i want to get more into it, and learn some more stuff.

I have made a clan-tag changer, and that's pretty much it. I can make a simple function.

I'd like someone to help me improve on my skills, teach me some more things, it'd be much better to have someone teach me rather than to read a tutorial.

Learn by making projects.
Start projects by setting a goal.

I have a suggestion. It may seem stupid, but it's actually pretty good. It's not free, but you may be able to get by with an e-book.

It's called "Torque for Teens"

It's what I used when I started using Torque. It doesn't only go into scripting, but also in-depth on how the Torque Game Engine works.

Books are very helpful when learning to code with any game engine.
I have books for alot of different stuff.

And when reading something, that IS teaching you. You might have luck in college, but not on the internet.

You could also try online guides.

Honestly, looking at other scripts and trying to script yourself is the best way to learn.
If you're a logical person, once you learn basic programming conventions, any new lanaguage is really easy to pick up.

This is true.

Books are lame. The best way to learn is through trial and error, AKA hours of learning the hard way.

i helped armageddon start scripting and then he was able to learn for himself basically.

halcynthis helped me start then i learned on my own
