People move on. It's not like as if he knew the child personally and people dying is a part of life. For him to still be upset over this toddler's death is just a loving ridiculous thought.

I'm also convinced it doesn't really matter whether or not Stocking is a female. He/She has a vivid personality and I'm certain I will never meet him/her in real life so I can just assume she is actually who she says she is.
