Author Topic: Large crack has appeared in my basement  (Read 5139 times)

That is a pretty normal crack.
However, to avoid future, more problematic cracks I would seal it with plaster or something like that.

A portal to hell is opening, use caution.

Lol, really?

The foundation may just be setting and all, I wouldn't consider a major concern (as in I don't think your house is going to collapse in on itself or something to the like), but I also don't think that it would hurt to call someone or look into the matter a bit deeper. Damage to the basement is not good if too severe, considering it is not only the foundation to the house but is home to...well, everything that keeps the place running. Heater, boiler, water lines, gas lines, etc. Better safe than sorry, but like I said, I doubt it is anything serious. Houses, even new ones, get some superficial damage here and there, if only from the weight of them.

that's from the bomb i blew up below your house, sorry

If you live in Virginia or the surrounding areaforget you New York, you didn't feel stuff it mightve been caused by that earthquake, then the house re-settling.

It's so true. I live in Virginia, just moved from California, so I REALLY Didn't expect an earthquake. My mom's first thought was: "stuff SOMEONE BLEW UP THE CAPITOL"

And then there was a hurricane. Did my move cause the end of the world? What's next? TORANDOS? [/intentionalmisspelling]

Destroyer you didn't happen to crash your car straight into the floor, did you?

Settlement is scary.. D:

It's doing that because it's a new house and hasn't settled completely.

Step on a Crack, break ya mamas back!

Your house is breaking! Quick! Get out before the walls and roof crack!
