Author Topic: Bot Gunner Event Help.  (Read 1163 times)

Hi, i need a Standard Bot to ride (or control) a Heavy MG. What i have tried so far is spawning a bot above the MG and then putting events into the bot. The best i could get was the bot would shoot, but he would spin around constantly shooting. I have called in 2 people so far and they each got the same problem. Everyone that hears it has said its "easy", however everyone that has tried it failed. If you could tell me the event line and explain how to do it that would be nice. What would be really nice is if someone that was excellent with bot events could meet me on my server and show me how in person. That way if it didn't work they could trouble shoot it there.

Well actually i was able to get a bot inside the heavy MG and make him shoot it. And i will tell you how. I gave the bot an item, and as the bot tried to use that item he was firing the gun.
Also i did try making the heavy MG the one that is scripted but then i noticed that i wouldn't have the bot on the back of it ( and i want it to look like the Bot is the gunner).

The only problem i have right now is that the bot is Spinning around and around. He still aims because as i float up his aim comes up.

Yea that's my problem. I need a way to stop that. If i turn of the AI Properties then it stops but then it wont aim.

turn off ai properties on the bot inside the bot then, and use the HMG to aim, not the bot inside

I thought of that, but what happens is that the bot takes control so the turret cant control its self.
I have a feeling that this seemingly easy problem is impossible.

Hey man, I will look into it. You might be able to use bot events to set bot aim and tell it to point at people as targets. Or are you doin that already?

You probably are seeing as how on a medivel rpg server the same issue occurs when a bot lands on a horse. I should really check it out.

What i am doing is having the bot protect a base, as if he was a normal player using that turret.

oh, you're screwed, you'd need to model them together as a whole bot if you'd really want it to work like that

well then this is IMPOSSIBLE with the Heavy MG because the Heavy MG wont shoot its self, i tried. It has to have something shooting it, like a bot. I gave the bot an item so it would activate that item, but by doing that it would activate the turret. Anyone think they have a good alternative?

But then its just shooting the gun. I don't think that makes it shoot the turret. It might be best just to have couple of bots patrol the area with guns.
