Author Topic: Why do all music videos take themselves so seriously?  (Read 1258 times)

Today, I watched Yellowcard's music video for Hang You Up, and I questioned "Why does every music video take itself so seriously?" I swear, this music video is the MLB Slugfest of music videos, it manages to stick with the original theme, but still made me laugh. Why can't music videos have something in them to make them unique like this instead of having some person in a dark room or on a beach singing while a band can be heard but no other people are present?

Because just about every mainstream song is about a broken relationship.

Because just about every mainstream song is about a broken relationship.

Broken relationships are something everyone can relate to, but I do agree that the subject is overused. I've also wondered why does rap music make very little sense, like "hurr i shoot man take dat muney o no brother i see cops gota run smok weed take dat muney skeet skeet"?

Every rap music video is a black guy on a speed boat with a ton of ladies at his side.
It's not that serious.

Music videos nowadays are like a lot of the eighties music videos - they don't know that they're insulting our intelligence. Don't watch them, they're all going to be the same.

Not every rap song is like that, you know.

Yeah, what's with black guys and white boats?

Also, did anyone else not expect the fat guy to actually talk?

I've wondered the same brother.

I've wondered the same brother.
And I also hate how so many people where I live can't accept the fact that they live in a very high income town, so they act "gangsta" by wearing pants with the crotch an inch from the ground, their hats backwards, and listening to rap to the point where I want to strangle Lil Wayne, shoot Big Sean, curbstomp Jay-Z, and otherwise do in every other rapper in the world.

I can't

I can't

Trust me, breaking up is worse than never being in a relationship. I can tell you that it makes you feel so empty inside you want to die, because you miss her so much.

I can't

Being alone and pondering what being complete is like is better than having your heart broken. ;_;
