I don't see how a lot of radar and fighter jets would help you take down a passenger plane that's been hijacked and flown over one of the most populated cities in your country.

And I don't believe it was the 9/11 terrorists aim to go out and kill those Britons primarily.
If you were going to get at a country, in this repetitive bombing that we're all apparently planning, then you'd direct it at the country that you hit the first time.

I'm sure there were many other people of many other nationalities who died during 9/11, but the countries of those people hardly worry themselves over being attacked as part of a horrific terrorist anniversary.

Flying planes into a large skyscraper is a very effective way of getting yourself/your message in the spotlight, and that's what it was really about.
