How come it seems like Lloyd is so underpowered?

So many characters have no troubles knocking me off at about 60-80%, yet always recover when I do beast (charged up) or sonic thrust (charged up) when they're at about 100+%.

yea idk, Sonic is a pretty strong character because he can spam easy :/
