I need to vent anger.
So I work as a newspaper boy for my neighborhood. 255 mailboxes total. I have to fold the papers and some folders which takes about 1.5 hours, then deliver which takes about 2.5 hours.
So i get home from school at noon today [Wednesday is half days here] for my weekly delivery. I see a nice stack of paper and stuff standing next to the front door covered in a large plastic bag [It was stormy] but I notice there was a standard newspaper I have missing.
I thought it was no big deal because they always bring newspapers and folders together because they come from the same vans. Newspapers 1 van folders 1 van. So after I folded my 1 newspaper and 2 folders [Took around 1 hour 15 minutes] I went to go and deliver the newspapers in the raging storm outside. I come home after 4 loving hours and my everything was soaked. But I had the feeling that at least I got rod of those stupid ass forgetpapers. So I gladly proceeded to the hallway to go to my computer and play blockland when I notice. In the hallway. My sister had opened the door earlier when I was gone delivering newspapers to let the newspaper van deliver something. And now I see a pile of newspapers staring at me. The 2nd batch. They delivered it 3 hours late and they will fire me if I don't deliver it. forget THEIM. Seriously. On the phone when they asked if I'd like a job they told me I'd get 15-10 euros/week. They pay me 6. And they do not pay me double of even half more if I have to deliver TWICE because of THEIR fault. I feel like making a nice great bonfire with the 3 stacks of newspapers in the hallway.
Also, they delivered the newspapers at 4PM. Folding takes 1.5 hours. Would be 5 30PM. And then delivering would take 2.5 hours, so it'd be around 8Pm when I am done. Point is, I, 14 years, am not permitted to deliver newspapers past 7PM. I can get fined for that. So they would fire me or fire me if i delivered the newspapers. I have a 4-week-quitting period but they can just go forget themselves. I'm quitting and not delivering for 4 weeks. They expect me to do 2, 2,5 hour delivery runs in a thunderstorm. For 6 euros.
Seriously isn't this like punishable with a lawsuit? Letting children work for 5 hours and pay 6 euros?
