Author Topic: Looking for a new Graphics Card on NewEgg  (Read 1090 times)

I would like to hear the forums recommendation. Since I am not very good at determining quality of Cards, I would like to get my input from here.

My current Card is a ATI Radeon 4300/4500

Card prices can range from $100-$200. I'm afraid of making this choice without enough knowledge about computers. If you need any more info I can post more info on my PC.

i have that same card but the fan doesnt work right anymore :c

radeon 5970s are in stock on newegg for 500$, pretty much the best card you can get thats in stock anywhere

its a step up from youre current card
How much of a "step up"? I know how well my current one runs already but is pretty much limited to what Battlefield Bad Company 2 can offer in regards to speed. Any newer games pass that I slow down drastically.

First off, we need to know your current specifications.
Start > Run > dxdiag
Post entire contents of first tab and display tab.

Also, what wattage is your power supply?
What slot does your motherboard have?

Possibly this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948

I have the 6850 which is a bit weaker yet it makes up very well for my dual core CPU when it comes to game performance.

Edit: Darn it Kearn

I can provide the first requested information but most likely will not be able to name slots.

Since the Inspiron 546 has 1 PCI-E 16x lane and a 300w PSU:

Fastest card that shouldn't require a better PSU.
That ones the cheapest and if it's XFX it most likely comes with a lifetime warranty.

Don't order it yet though, doing research into the quality of your PSU.

Oh yeah. I do need to mention that my Inspiron was custom built and is not a standard model.

Ok thanks Ethan :)
However, considering your good budget, I'd definitely get a PSU upgrade anyway.
Consider this:

Or even that PSU and this:

I believe that's close to the best you can get with your system given your CPU may bottleneck a bit.
Just make sure they fit inside the case given etc.

Ok so If I change out my PSU and add that card I don't have to worry about any other components getting fried by the new power supply?
