Author Topic: Computer's graphics card sucks big richard, can I upgrade with the computer I have?  (Read 1496 times)

I am tired of my stupid stuffty graphics card which is a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. I think that only a selection of computers are able to be upgraded. I have an eMachines EL1352G computer:

Can I upgrade this computer? If so, what would be a good graphics card at a reasonable price?

That is the exact same computer I have (and am currently upgrading.)

First, get 4 GB Ram, then a Phenom x4 AM3 and for graphics card, at the moment I'm using Radeon HD 4550, but get the 5450 because it's cheaper, lower wattage needed, and better performance.

Edit: also might I add that I'm assuming you don't want to upgrade your PSU.

Thanks for the info. And what is a PSU? Sorry, I don't know jack stuff about computers.

Power supply unit.

Since I have the same computer you have, I can say your PSU is ~260 watts.

Neenja: You can not go over your wattage if you add hardware, if you do your computer won't boot.  But just take it out, and it'll be fine.

Is that a good thing?

Is that a good thing?
More watts the better, but at the moment, no.  That's not what I would call top tier but with those parts you'll get by.  You can run BLOPS on those specs.

But let me just say, if you plan on upgrading again get another PSU.

This will give you a bit more wiggle room.

are you sure that the 5450 is actually better than the 4550, bricky?

ATI/AMD has some ass backwards nomenclature and it confuses the stuff out of me, but usually the first number doesn't mean anything about performance as its just the series number. Wouldn't the 5450 be the equivalent of a 4450, which would be worse than a 4550?

If I recall, I saw a Radeon hd 4550 run BLOPS at a choppy rate but a 5450 ran is smoothly.  But I dunno, AMD should stop smoking rocks while counting so maybe they'll eventually make it easiest for us all.

e-machines suck did, I've never had a real computer until just recently.

i have a 2-in-1 emachines computer
1.6 ghz processor
1 gb of ram
128mb graphics card
but the monitor is big
i want a tower so bad :c

The case looks particularly small, and I'm not sure if it has a PCI-E slot.
Can anyone confirm this before I discuss updates?

thats how nvidia's is too, lol...

you bought an office computer, what were you expecting?

customize your own with different companies customization, or build your own, or buy a pre-built gaming computer from newegg or other providers.
