Honestly, none of it is terrible. I could listen to it, but not really enjoy it. Melodies on these genres focus on near-monotone vocals, no moral to it's words except blank secularity or humanism. I like expressive genres like Jazz, Latin Jazz and Funk. (Yes, I am a white kid.)
No one really has come to appriciate them because the culture around them dictates, this stuff is cool, when no one can really decide for themselves what they like. I chose Jazz genres out of all because you feel the rythm, not hear it.
In fact, most intervals in modern pop music rotate around ROOT, m6, Maj, mi, 4, 5 and other clichéd chord usage. Rare usage of a 7 chord. Melodies revolve around 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 instead of any Chromatic or alternate scale patterns.
