Which one do you think I should get?

The drumset
The computer

Author Topic: Decisions! I must make them! Comp vs. Drumset  (Read 1013 times)

Alright, so I've been saving up FOREVER to have a decent amount of money. At this point, my macbook is 5-6 years old and is...well, really worn down. I need a new computer sooner or later. The thing is though, I have access to the family iMac, which is rarely used, and is VERY new and in great shape.

My drumset is in a poor state. Used regularly for the past couple years, and it was well used when my brother bought it.

Basically, I have roughly 1200 bucks that I need to either spend on a new drumset, or a new computer.

The computer (no discussing that, it's what I would get)
. Note: I would need to borrow about 300 bucks from my parents for this, but because it's going to last me through college and is for education (mainly) I think they will be willing to do that.

The drum set. I can afford this on my own, but barely because aside from the shell pack I still have to buy the hardware pack.

So I want your input! It's a tough call for me, because, being in two bands, I can definitely make great use of a new kit. And needing the mobility of a laptop, I can really use a new laptop that can do stuff at a good speed.

Respond to the poll, or discuss. Thanks in advance for your input.

I was about to say drum set because if you follow your dreams, dreams will come true, but...  You said the computer was for college mostly now, so I would say Computer.  Mostly because college will kinda help you achieve your goal even further.

That's a damn good drumset for less than 800

buy the drumset then get a cheaper computer is what i would go for. i love mac and all, i have a 7 year old macbook pro and it runs like a dream, the only thing i would recommend is getting a windows computer for college. reason being most academic networks use windows, and hooking up a mac to a windows network is a total bitch to do unless you have emulators, in which case why have a mac.

Update, after talking to my dad, apparently he's willing to buy the laptop. But he would prefer me not to touch my savings, which is basically where all my money is. I have 75 bucks in not savings (checking, I guess).

So that's awesome. I'll keep you all posted on if he ends up offering to buy the computer.

I'm not getting a PC. I know how to work one and all, and i already work with them at my high school, but I know mac best. It won't be an issue. The macbook is my choice. Good reason though, I get what you're saying.

I didn't look at anything I'll give a bad opinion that everyone will hate me for.

Wait stuff, why get a Mac
I've dreamed about having windows for so long now

it's really just a compatibility issue, it hasn't stopped me in the past but it has been an inconvenience. loving teachers just looooooove adobe reader for all their god damn documents.

I really don't think anything justifies the extra 600 dollars for that laptop on top of a normal laptop thats the same specs

I must say, it's a plus that the hardware manufacturer is also the software manufacturer. Everything works very fluidly.

Also, I have a far deeper knowledge of Mac than I do of PC, so I can pretty much do everything I need to do fluidly out of the box. I wouldn't have to learn the little corners of a PC that common PC users know already. It's just more convenient for me, and I know for sure I'm getting a good computer from Apple. And if I don't, their support is awesome and will fix it. They always have. However, lots of my friends have consistent issues with their support because whatever company (HP, Dell, whatever) aren't exactly the best at customer service.

Drum set because the computer you chose sucks for any kind of gaming.

forget off, I know for a fact it gets the job done for the gaming that I do.

You are probably under the impression I said that because it's a Macintosh. I worked with a Mac all summer and it is an okay computer n

Who would choose a drum set over a brand new computer?
