Author Topic: NJ Bullying Laws  (Read 3604 times)

To assist each district board of education in revising its HIB policy to comply with the new statute, the amended legislation required the Commissioner of Education to revise the New Jersey Department of Education’s (NJDOE) model HIB policy applicable to grades kindergarten through twelve (K-12). Therefore, this document includes revisions to the model policy originally published in September 2003, revised in April 2006, April 2007 and November 2008, and includes appropriate references to statutes and emergent information on HIB.

Excludes colleges and the Clementi issue happened at Rutgers University.

It should be the parent's job to make sure their children aren't pussies

In Elizabeth, children, including kindergartners, will spend six class periods learning, among other things, the difference between telling and tattling.

Instead of learning about something STUPID like, oh I don't know, how to count to 10? Or how to tie your own shoes? Or maybe the alphabet?

I can see the board of directors now - "Oh, forget about that dumb alphabet and counting and all of that useless crap! We need to tell these kids the difference between telling and tattling!, I mean it's not like they NEED to know the alphabet or how to count or anything!"

tl;dr: School board there - Idiots.

forget yeah laws against bullies.

forget yeah laws against bullies.

I'm not saying that, i'm just saying whats more important? Teaching kids about the difference between telling and tatting for 4 hours, or learning stuff you NEED to know?

This, I don't fully agree with.

I sincerely hope four hours is an exaggeration though.

If the "bully" is just calling you names, their stupid, and don't hurt you. However, if the "bully" actually beats you up, it'd be awesome if he was arrested. Laws should apply to kids as well, teach them that instead of planting the idea in their head that laws don't apply to the young, and doing bad things is only punishable by school rules.

101% this.

1 period = 45-60 minutes at my school, so I assume in Kindergarten, it would be like 30 or 45 minutes per period.

45 * 6 = 270, each period is 45 minutes, 240 minutes, 20 minute break. 4 Hours of learning about the wonders of tattling and telling.

It would honestly be excellent if a bully landed in jail. I'm taking Intro to Law, and we learned about all the charges possible. If someone beat me up to the point of it being visible later, I could put the attacker in jail for the minimum of a year.

How's that for putting some sense in people's heads.

Their definition of bullying mainly goes into name calling and stuff

when people talk about "bullying" these days, it's usually just namecalling, over the internet, no less
in other words, posts on this forum could be considered "bullying"
except the lamestream media cares more about facebook than blockland... friends
