Author Topic: Another Buying Computer Thread  (Read 220 times)

Ok I built my current computer only like 8 months ago but my mom and sister were using a 5 year old computer and it finally fried and I feel bad they have no computer so being the awesome guy I am I am going to build a new one just so they can have my current one. I'd like to keep the budget around $1200 although I have way more than that so don't feel afraid to go to as much as $1500 if the price jump is worth it. I used to be really up to date on computers and have been building my own since I was like 8 but I haven't been doing my research in a long time and with the confusing aspects of i7s and i5s where some i5s are better than i7s and some i7s with faster clocks have a much lower cache and as a result are worse etc. really confuses me atm.

tl;dr

I am building a new computer for $1200-$1500 and the requirements are:
I need windows 7 OEM so that's $100 off right there
I want an intel mobo and CPU i5 or i7 preferred
I want nvidia GPU this time solely because I haven't had one in forever and I just like new things
I want all namebrand, especially on the PSU, skimping on the PSU never worked out well in my experience. (not that a PSU ever broke on me just I've had a lot lacking the necessary cables or being clunky.)

I will probably be doing my own research but some of you do find it fun to try and build comps on a budget I know and it will help me out so feel free.
