SR2 was kind of a badly made glitchfest but the charecter customization and stuff was awesome.

I think in a way that was kind of what they were going for but it does get old. I can admit just by watching the videos with enhanced coloring and new textures and what now made the game look much more lively. It's a great mod, I think if it improves it that much and mods like that are being made just by normal people it can't be hard for Rockstar to do something like that.

Now that you mention it, look at the grass. It is barely distinguishable from the concrete.

Yeah, I'm noticing that a bit too. I'm sure NY grass is ugly but it has to have at least a little green. :o

GTA IV does not look realistic with all the grey/brown/blue filters.

It actually looks better than normal grass because they take really good care of it.

Its pretty accurate as far as Im concerned. Id just like more traffic and pedestrians and stuff, especially better traffic patterns and stuff. Im a nut for realisticness.

Just remember, since people still use disks, there are storage limits.
Now if everyone could download games, I bet devs would go nuts.

I live in LA - I hope GTAV is there :D

I haven't touched a console since I discovered computer gaming.

Yeah but some games it seems like they're stretching the limits more and more. Surely there's gotta be some way to do something like that.

real life

gta iv
It's true that a part of the city looks like that. It's even true that the part of the city that looks like that is quite big. It's still more colorful than most of the places in GTA IV, not to mention that GTA IV likes to pretend that's what the entire city looks like. We've got red brick, beige, bright white, dark red, brown, and black. In the very back of the picture you can almost see what looks like a rainbow on top of a building!

That picture was also taken in late fall or early winter on a cloudy day. If it were summer there would be a bright row of green on either side of the street.

Try comparing Star Junction to Time Square. Or Middle Park to Central Park.

We're not saying GTA IV looked terrible, or Rockstar doesn't know how to draw or anything like that. But they took the easy way out, they made everything gray like every other game. They could have taken the art to a whole new level by simply using color. They could have enriched the color pallet without going totally overboard and still had their dirty looking city. They didn't. They took a city that is already mostly metal and concrete, stripped everything that looked remotely alive out of it, and replaced it with fake grass and plastic trees.

I don't necessarily think it was the easy way out, but it also seemed to capture the feel of every day life for the main characters.

Bump for the obvious announcement of a trailer.

I hope we see Niko again :O

Maybe as an easter Egg or something.
