Author Topic: Why so popular, You Gaming Console?  (Read 1835 times)

What is so appealing about Console Gaming Systems? I was a devoted Xbox player for about three whole years. I loved it, There couldn't be anything better than it, But then I was introduced to the world of Gaming Computers and realized how backwards the Xbox and the like were. My $350 Laptop can play MoH Airborne on medium settings and I was awestruck. Earlier today, I had left the Music and Arts store realizing they didn't carry Turntable Stylus's, So I walked into Gamestop. I looked at their puny shelf of PC games, And when I looked at the Xbox rack, I saw all the same games for up to $10 more. Also, PC's can do about 50x more than an Xbox could dream of.

So now I ask you, Fellow Forumers, Why do you think that Gaming Consoles are so popular?

Gaming PCs are more expensive and less predictable. If the person wants to play games, but isn't so much a computer/internet person, they go for a console.

I used to love the first xbox and PS2. Until muliplayer. -shivers-

So, 8 year olds who's dad doesn't want to break the bank on a console that he couldn't use due to his childs addiction to it.

a decent gaming computer can cost 500+
an xbox/ps3/wii is like, 300 and can run any games made for it

Accessibility. That is the only reason.

Consoles are cheaper, Smaller, and more than 60% of the time, faster.

they're only faster if you can't spend 500+ on a good computer

Why are you making such a big loving deal?

I think he means in terms of just plugging it in and not having to install the games.

Fable: The Lost Chapters is one of my favorite games of all time.
Xbox version is choppy framerate-wise, but tolerably so.
PC version never strays from 30fps. Wonderful.
Graphics-wise, they are roughly equal.
Gameplay-wise, I find Xbox more satisfying.
I'll play a game if it's only for PC. Don't get me wrong, I love PC gaming. I really, really do. I also love console gaming just as much.
I just don't believe in any superiority of one party over the other.

a $600 computer can game better then a $600 console.
however over time when the console is quickly outdated, and they drop their prices; that kinda changes.

big diff between computer and console
you can't hi five the other person
