Author Topic: Needing suggestions on a new keyboard/piano  (Read 414 times)

Well, I've had the same learning keyboard for about 10 years. It's basic: Light up keys, about 76 keys, 100 rhythms, sounds, and songs, and the like. Well, it doesn't have pressure sensing, a pedal extension, or a USB or MIDI port so I can't use it with my computer. Knowing that some of the BL Forumers play piano/keyboard, I was hoping you guys would be able to recommend a good electronic keyboard for me. I need it to be lightweight, have a wide variety of sounds, at least 76 keys, and pressure sensing. Everything else is just an extra. It should be less than $450 if at all possible.

I was looking at the Yamaha DGX-520:

Until I saw the lowest price was around $450, and the highest being $650+.
The DGX-230 is more of what I'm looking for:

It's not too complex, has a really nice variety of sounds without going overboard, and I can get it for less than $300.

So basically I want a good quality keyboard for a reasonable price while still being portable and a good variety of sounds. I want something I'll be satisfied with for several more years as I'm beginning to feel like I'm at a skill level where I could use a more realistic keyboard than my current one.

Thanks in advance.

Just do a google search for the same type of keyboard that you have, but with pressure sensing keys.

It'll be cheap, and you may be able to sell the old one for a sizeable discount on the new one.

This is the one I currently have: http://www.retagit.com/ProductInfo.aspx?id=6589897 The only problem is that the LK-61 series only has 61 keys. I currently have the LK-1161.

Somewhat off-topic:
I play piano too lol

I play the piano myself and I currently have a Casio CTK-4000, its a really good piano with everything you would like to have, Casio doesn't sell it anymore but Amazon does and they are having a sale on it too! Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-CTK-4000-Keyboard-Professional-Headphones/dp/B001FSJC1O

A better choice though would be the Casio CTK-6000, it costs more than the CTK-4000 but it has the same features you would expect it to have and even more! This would be a better buy if you want those extra features that the CTK-4000 doesn't have and you would like to buy it in stores if you don't want anything shipped to your house. Here is the link for it: http://www.casio.com/products/Digital_Pianos_%26_Keyboards/Portable_Keyboards/CTK-6000/

Check out both of them, they are both really good keyboards and they have everything you would like from a piano and even more features if you would like to use them. And they are both at a reasonable price. I play the piano alot so I know what I am talking about. Casio are really good keyboards. I hope I helped you and have fun making music! :D

EDIT: I see you wanted 76 keys, well I don't know much about those but I did find one Casio keyboard that costs $300 and it has 76 keys. Plus all the features you said you wanted this one also has. Check it out: http://www.casio.com/products/Digital_Pianos_%26_Keyboards/Workstation_Keyboards/WK-200/
