Author Topic: So I made an evolution simulator program. Someone suggest a screen reccorder.  (Read 1149 times)

*Enlarged 300%

I figured someone would have some intrest in this.

That's a screen shot of it after running for 131 seconds.
You see, it simulates the lives of little cells.
These cells have different parts.
When they produce an offspring cell, it has a chance of about 0.3% of either gaining a new part, losing a part, or having a part modified.
There are four different parts.
There's a brown part that's like the 'brain' of the cell.
It needs at least one to survive, and it uses 25 food per turn.
There's a yellow part which does nothing by itself, but only uses 5 food per turn.
There's a white part which can consume those little squares of black "food" that fall from the top. Takes 10 food per turn.
And there's the last kind of part, which can have it's color modifed to anything. Also takes 10 food per turn.
That kind of part makes food for the plant based on what color light it's over (see the blue to orange fade) and how much pigment is in it and of what kinds.
(the more cells, and the more pigment used, the more food that's required for a cell to reproduce)

One cell. Enlarged.

When the program starts, there are 100 cells that are only a brown 'center' part with a white 'eating' part on top of them, scattered near the source of those black food pellets. From there they eventually evolve other parts that let them branch off and leave the top. KFPS is how many 'rounds' are running per second of calculation for everything. And DFPS is how many times the screen is updated each second. MS ran just measures miliseconds from the program was started.

BTW, can someone suggestion a good screen reccorder?
I have fraps, but can't get it to lock onto my program, and reccording the whole screen is rediclious, and makes a multi GB file for only a few minutes.
And Hypercam (unregistered) slows down my computer and generally has stuff video quality.

Oh, and I'll take suggestions for features of the program too.

faps
lol'd

but for srs I used Taksi for a while and it worked good for me.

How complex do the cells get?

How complex do the cells get?
As complex as they can until it stops being efficient.
That, and I'm looking to make more part types, in general just more stuff that can be added/changed in general.

and only for mac

:p

Macs are better than PCs they don't get viruses.

False, they don't get viruses as easy as a PC, they still do just very, very rare.

Macs are better than PCs they don't get viruses.
More reasons than that.

Macs are better than PCs they don't get viruses.
windows pcs are better than mac they can run windows-specific programs

lol evolution, loving idiotsjk
