Author Topic: TF2 not working on Steam.  (Read 2926 times)

Ok heres the story:

I was playing TF2 and all, and I got off after I while. I came back an hour later and opened Steam and opened TF2, problem was, it said:
                                      MountAppFilesystem() failed:
SteamMountAppFilesystem(440,0,0,0xf47fd24) failed with error 1: No
                                      default filesystems for this App.

If you know anything at what the hell this means, please reply ;c

Did you try reinstalling/verifying game cache?

Im not to great with Steam, but how do I do this? And is there a way I can keep all my TF2 things?

No, the only way to fix it is by uninstalling, sadly this will delete your backpack though.

he's joking
backpack is used via steam cloud
therefore you can uninstall and reinstall and your backpack and everything except settings on the game will be there

Type "Verifying Game Cache Files (GCF)" into Google because the link is viewed as a referral link and is thus unpostable.

Oh cool thanks guys. Ill let you know if it works.

Uh Regulith your idea didnt work, and Placid are you for real or are you trying to make me lose my backpack.

You can't lose your backpack.

You verified the cache that quickly?

uh, well, let's see.
EVERY TIME YOU CLOSE TF2, IT UPDATES SOMETHING WITH STEAM CLOUD for one thing.
secondly, if you try to launch TF2 in offline mode, you find that you are asked if you would like to play anyways even if IT CAN'T ACCESS STEAM CLOUD.
third, if you have played tf2 a lot you would know that if you have bad internet connection or something happens with the server, YOU CAN'T ACCESS YOUR BACKPACK.
plus if backpacks were downloaded there would probably be people trying to constantly tamper with the files

sorry if this sounds pushy i was just laughing so hard that you believed that you lose it on uninstall

it took one second and said it was completed

Ok fine Placid, im not that great with files and stuff so im sorry. I just hoped you we'rent tricking me into losing my backpack.

Ok im loving stupid, how do I reinstall TF2?

EDIT: Ok I dont got it. Do I delete local content?

For verifying did you right click on TF2, go to properties then local files and hit Verify integrity of game cache?

If so to re-install delete local content then downloadable it.
