I'm playing on Very Hard with hardcore mode enabled and the game is seriously a walk in the park. Deathclaws are a joke too, sure they may sneak up on me and kill me from time to time but they are easy prey.

You're seriously having trouble with that mission. I was able to get to the mountain on my first try, then again I went after maxing out my Guns and Repair skill with a bit off luck finding some good weapons earlier in the game. :u
My guns level is at 75 now, and Energy weapons is at 60.So, I might be prepared.Thing is, I can kill the super mutants that use the LMG's easily, it's just the ones with the flamethrowers that get me every loving time.

Just use a good long range weapon to take them out. I sold all of my decent weapons and was able to accumulate around 1000 caps, enough with what I already had to buy my first Anti-Material Rifle. Speech is a pretty good ability to get extra caps from quests.
You just reminded me, I'm level 16 and can buy the AMR from Gun Runners now.Time to get rid of all the laser things I stole from Fiends.
Yeah, I always sell my laser weapons from them, and the ones I stole from Silver Rush.
