Author Topic: Laptop Upgrade?  (Read 1461 times)

Well recently, I've been wanting to get Gmod for a while now since I first saw it in 06'. My laptop meets most of the requirements but the only thing that doesn't is the processor. It's recommended that I have 3.0 but my CPU only goes to 2.2. I need to know what I can do to help my laptop or what I should buy to make it compatible, the model is a HP G62 Notebook, nothing is wrong with it, it's able to handle most games well. Heres some specs as well because I'm not sure what I need to do.

You can run it fine with that processor.

It's just that I don't want to buy it without knowing if it will lag or not.

Processor: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better)

You can run it fine.

It's really near impossible to upgrade components in a laptop.
Also, your processor will be fine. What's your GPU?

Where can I check this out?

Your graphics chipset is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 with up to 1405.0 MB of allocated memory.
Specs and other stuff for the laptop. I'd say you're good for Garry's Mod.

Run >  dxdiag > Display tab.

Yes, that would be my graphics card, just checked it up with what Ethan said.

Ok, so what would be the best Source game to go with it? Counter-Strike or TeamFortress 2.

CS:S.
People have recommended this to me because it offers more, but I don't have alot of cash on me, so I can't get both it and Gmod. I've only got about 15$ on steam. Eh, I'll worry about the money bit on my own. Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it.

In general most maps and content use CSS materials because they are real world-ly looking.  It doesn't hurt to have all of them though, especially CSS and TF2 mainly though.  The Half Life 2 games will be needed for some content and add-ons as well.

TF2 content for free, CS:S is amazing for source, portal sometimes and Half Life 2 is needed.

Hmmm, should I get Half-Life2 or will I be able to play it standalone.
