I awoke out of a sound sleep. My dreams were bad. Not just nightmares, but predictions. I sat there, wondering about them, paralyzed in space and time. I took in a breath. A breath of nothing. Again, my brain freezed. It took me a while to realize I was suffocating. I took the nearest air tank, and put the mask over my face, the cold air entering my mouth. I had a backpack in my locker, and took it, stuffing the second mate's air tank in it. I took up my belongings. As I rushed out of the door, I again noticed the pool of blood, seeping into the grates.
I heard screaming, and rushed towards the bridge. I has slept in the lounge directly in front of the bridge, but the doors were closed. I saw a man in the lounge, with his head vaporized. He was holding a energy carbine in his hands. I checked the gun, and it had 9 charges out of 10. I took one more clip, and a roll of tape out of his pocket. I opened the floor grate, using a knife as a screwdriver. I opened the hatch, and disconnected the cables, revealing the maintenance duct. I climbed in, hitting hard. I had taped the flashlight to the rifle, and turned it on. Nothing. I proceeded towards the bridge.
